On a schedule she posts the real figures behind music and movies, first-week album units, box-office grosses, streaming counts, critic scores, and writes one sharp line on top. Not vibes. The actual number, sourced and carded.
The one idea: most of these numbers sit behind enterprise contracts or scattered across ten sites. She pulls them from real sources, grounds her take strictly on the figure, and hands you a clean card with the number as the headline.
The number is the headline. Album art top-right, a source pill, and her one-line read on top.
Three desks, one house style
music numbers · cinema · the newsroom
Each desk has its own beat and its own channel, but they all ship the same clean big-number card. Here’s who covers what.
Three beats. The music desk breaks the gatekept number; cinema owns the screen figures; the newsroom chases breaking stories and verifies them.
The music desk: the number nobody has
Luminate, the source behind the charts
Luminate is the official U.S. music-consumption data company, the one whose figures Billboard filters into its published charts. Its raw numbers are locked behind enterprise contracts, so almost nobody sees the real first-week total. But Kalshi settles its music markets on Luminate and exposes the raw figure in its free public API. Tootsies reads it there.
Billboard prints a filtered number; Kalshi settles on the unfiltered Luminate figure. She reports the raw one, and says how it differs.
Two kinds of story come off that feed:
A settled market gets a REVEAL; a live one gets a market-implied projection with a confidence band. Never a made-up number.
Ask for a deep dive
Songstats, on demand
Want the real numbers on one track? Ask her. She pulls from Songstats, clean streaming data across roughly 18 platforms with a daily history, and reads it back. It’s a scarce feed (~18 lookups a day), so it’s a deep dive you request, never a firehose.
She reads back the actual total plus the daily-streams trend, sourced, not guessed. A request, not a scheduled post, so the scarce feed lasts.
The cinema desk: the screen numbers
box office, streaming, scores, releases
The movie/TV sibling. Every slot it sweeps four free sources, ranks the freshest story, and cards it, leading with the biggest new opener when there is one. Reviews-are-in scores, opening weekends, Netflix’s #1, what’s dropping this week, plus Perplexity-driven awards-watch and TV renewed/cancelled news.
Four free sources, ranked to the sharpest story, delivered as a card with the real poster, box office, streaming hours, or an RT / Metacritic score.
The newsroom: breaking, then verified
it doesn’t just repeat a tweet
The newsroom watches the music-numbers accounts @tootsiesbar already follows, chartdata, Billboard, HITS, chartmasters, touringdata. When one drops a figure, she doesn’t parrot it. A quick classifier pulls the claim, then she independently verifies it with Grok’s X-search and a Perplexity web check before stating it as fact.
A confirmed number is stated plainly; an unconfirmed one is framed as a projection. She credits Luminate or the chart, not the account that reposted it.
Where the desks post
a mod points each one at a channel
Each desk has its own channel set on /menu, and its own on/off switch. A desk can run live in the room, quietly audition in a log channel first, or stay off. Until a mod picks a channel, that desk stays dark, so nothing surprising ever lands.
Off, staging, or live, per desk, per server. Mods flip it in the control room once they’ve seen it audition.
tl;dr, she runs three numbers desks, the gatekept Luminate music figure Kalshi exposes, the free screen numbers from Box Office Mojo, Netflix, OMDb and TMDB, and a verified newsroom off trusted chart accounts. Every post leads with the real number on a clean card, and she never invents a figure.
